Friend and mentor

Created by Norman one year ago

My wife Gail and I have many happy memories of times with the ‘Crawfords’, especially in Kenya and in particular bush camping. On one occasion we were woken by a local with the largest assegai I’ve seen. Fortunately, Malcolm was fluent in Kiswahili!

Having worked with (and for) him in the UK [Minworth - Weardale Minerals], Kenya [Kenya Fluorspar], with pilot plants here in Canada and on much research since, I can reiterate Ismene Clarke’s words “Malcom was Fluorspar”.

He was a gentleman who ‘suffered fools gladly’ but gave praise where it was due. I treasure the final line of one email from him…
“Finally, may I compliment you on such repeatable testing…much easier said than done with fluorite.  You know me well enough – I only bestow compliments when I feel they are fully earned – very good job done! Kind regards, Malcolm.”

He was a good friend and mentor and will be sorely missed.
